Our Full Story

Thank you for visiting my shop! Snow Wave Creations was established and founded on December 18, 2021, by Xuetao Chen (aka Sherry Lobo), a woman who is motivated and passionate about creating miracles that make life easier and more interesting for her community. She has been living her ideal life in Naknek, Alaska since moving from China on May 26, 2010.

She's been enjoying her new life on this paradise peninsula of Bristol Bay, Alaska.

She chose to ride her bike to work year-round—whether rain, snow, or sunshine—for over 10 years instead of learning to drive. She worked for local gas stations and ran a cleaning service for local companies. After planning to run a community Tailgate Swap Meet in early 2021, she finally got her driver's license on October 5, 2021. During her spare time, she loves to walk on the beach, hike on the tundra, and climb trees. She also enjoys knitting and has designed her own knitted fish headbands.

Her husband, Travis Lobo, has been a longtime Bristol Bay fisherman and now runs a tender for wild salmon harvest and local cannery. His twin brothers, Erik Lobo and Darren Lobo, took over their dad David Lobo's business, Matrix Marine, which has served the Bristol Bay salmon fishing fleet, keeping their engines running safe and strong for nearly 40 years.

Sherry especially loves to cook her hometown food from Sichuan, China. Her husband Travis has been influenced by her cooking style, and together they dream of one day making homemade food for you—a home away from home!

Meanwhile, as the newest gift shop in King Salmon, we are collecting locally made arts and crafts to support the community and visitors who are interested in crafts and arts made by locals.

When you visit us at the King Salmon Mall, we hope you'll feel the warmth of a place that celebrates both the new and the old. In our shop, you might discover something that sparks a memory, inspires your journey, or introduces you to a piece of Alaska you've never known before. Every visit brings the chance for a new experience, a new connection, and a deeper appreciation of our shared heritage.

We plan to open year-round, though our hours may shift during the winter and spring as we navigate Alaska's ever-changing weather. If you can't visit in person, we welcome you to shop with us online from wherever your adventure takes you. Please remember—we're always here to help, to listen, and to make your experience as warm and personal as possible.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for stopping by. Your support means more than words can say. We can't wait to welcome you back again soon. Until then, take care, travel safely, and let us know whenever we can make your journey with us even more special.
